At Yara Animal Nutrition South Africa, a large portion of about 100 employees is based at our manufacturing plant in Umbogintwini, Durban, with the rest nationally serving customers in the field.


Responsibilities

  • Execute daily morning routine inspections
  • Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities as and when instructed to by senior artisan and/or maintenance manager, ensuring equipment and plant availabilities.
  • Maintain plant equipment’s and areas within a high engineering standard to ensure efficiencies are of a high standard meeting the agreed upon efficiencies of the plant and output rates.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out timeously and to high standards, reporting any deviations to senior artisan(s).
  • Supporting, suggesting and actively been involved with continuous improvement suggestions/ideas.
  • Working overtime from time to time as and when required.
  • Ensuring a high level of housekeeping on the plant and equipment’s before, during and after maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate and work with production personnel in order to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Ensure strict adherence too and zero deviations with regards to the company procedure(s) regarding permitting and isolations when preforming a task.
  • Ensuring timeous close out and feedback of all tasks as communicated by senior artisan(s).
  • Partaking in root cause analysis on equipment/parts failures and following through with corrective actions till completion as and when instructed.

    • Profile

    Upkeep, repairs and improvements on all plant equipment’s across the site and warehouse plants/areas and sub areas, to improve plant availabilities and equipment efficiencies through a high standard of engineering practices when executing maintenance tasks/activities. To plan and execute scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance for daily activities and planned shuts under the supervision of the senior artisan(s). To ensure scope of work and responsibilities are carried out in line with company procedures and policies as well as ISO 9001, 14001 and NOSA systems. To ensure a high standard of housekeeping & safety on, in and around plant areas and workshops


    Additional Information

  • Matric
  • Trade tested/qualified as Mechanical Fitter
  • A minimum of 3 years post trade test experience in a chemical plant or animal feed plant which is relevant to the trade passed
  • role is shift based
