Fitness Specialist (Fitness Programs Manager)

Manages all PAFB and CCAFS fitness programs such as group exercise classes, equipment orientations, incentive programs, special events, personal fitness assessments, fitness improvement programs, and fitness room monitoring and advertises monthly fitness activities. Plans, develops, organizes, and supervises a comprehensive fitness improvement program IAW AFI 34-266, Air Force Fitness and Sports Program. Develops an annual fitness plan to include all core and enhanced fitness programs, as well as activities implemented in coordination with other installation organizations. Maintains all equipment to include fitness exercise equipment, ensuring safety signage is displayed in all exercise/equipment areas. Conducts periodic reviews of fitness programs. Reviews fitness instructor and personal trainer qualifications and performance. Acts as a representative to the Health Promotion Working Group as required. Conducts customer surveys to assess effectiveness of ongoing programs and/or justify additional programs. Provides input to the FSM for the annual operations & maintenance (O&M) budget and unfunded requirements, and tracks expenditures as assigned. Develops continuity binders/files and maintains written and automated records of all fitness programs. Maintains an accurate inventory of fitness programs equipment, and updates at least quarterly. Acts as the government inspector for the core and enhanced program contracts and ensures compliance with AFI 34-266 and statement of work. Recruits NAF contractors and prepares information for contracts as required. Coordinates and/or teaches group physical training classes for units as requested. Develops and coordinates education classes and/or programs for active duty members needing assistance with meeting AF fitness standards. May advise/develop individual fitness programs for other patrons as time permits. Provides assistance to patrons in proper and safe use of exercise machines and equipment. Assists individuals in making positive lifestyle changes using self-monitoring tools such as journals and fitness logs. Ensures patrons are screened IAW AF guidelines prior to providing fitness programs. Performs opening and closing procedures IAW activity policy. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum one year experience in developing, implementing, conducting and supervising fitness improvement programs. An undergraduate or graduate degree in fitness, physical education, health and wellness, recreation, sports management, or other related field is desirable. Must possess/maintain a current Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise certification from a HQ AFSVA/SVORF accepted organization as a condition of employment. Must possess/maintain a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid certification as a condition of employment. Strong administrative, computer, and marketing skills are desirable. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Must have demonstrated experience using personal computers with working knowledge of work processing, database management, and spreadsheet programs. Must read, write and speak English fluently and be able to communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. At times, will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
