Financial Valuation Associate / Intern

Marshall & Stevens’ New York office has an open position for a full-time associate / intern in the Financial Valuation department. The Financial Valuation professionals currently values businesses and securities, in addition to intangibles for financial and tax reporting purposes, as well as for litigation support purposes.

The associate / intern will be responsible for working with a team to analyze cost, market and income approaches to support the fair market valuations of project assets for our clients. Report writing is also part of the job duties.

DUTIES:

• Assist senior associates, managers, and directors in developing valuation models, performing analytic research, and writing reports for our clients
• Analyze legal documents such as operating and shareholder agreements
• Analyze and input data from financial statements
• Collect, analyze, and correlate data for valuation analysis purposes; as well as perform ancillary analysis of economic, industry, and financial data
• Maintain research data, files, and databases

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Intermediate/advanced understanding of financial theory, business transactions and general accounting and federal tax issues
• Possess analytical skills and have the willingness to learn and execute supportable analyses
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Professional presence
• Self-starter

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Pursuit of a Masters or Bachelor’s degree is necessary, with a concentration in Finance, Statistics, Economics

• Progress towards another professional credential a plus (ABV, ASA, CFA, CVA or other)
• Accounting coursework in fair value helpful (ACS 350, 718, 805 and 820).
