Financial Reporting Analyst

Our team leads Aetnas Healthcare Reform financial reporting through a thorough process of gathering, analyzing, and validating large data sets from various financial sources. Were looking for this role to serve as a technical subject matter expert to streamline the data analysis component of the role through macro/database development to allow for a more comprehensive review of the data provided by subject matter experts.

Fundamental Components:

Gather and modify data necessary for the Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) filing processes, including: database maintenance, reconciliation to supporting systems, and research and analysis of unexpected results. Support audit requests by gathering detailed data, process and control documents from supporting files. Assist with interpreting new regulatory guidelines and application to current system framework. Maintain and develop internal reports and other analysis tools in support of the review process. Act as a liaison between finance/accounting functions and Information Technology (IT) departments. Participate in the design, operation, enhancement and monitoring of internal controls. Eager to learn and evaluate internal and external customer feedback and perform continuous quality improvement activities. Ability to engage immediately and willingness to lead high profile projects with minimal supervision.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Experience in accounting, finance or relevant positions desired Technical skills related to MS Access and Excel, and/or general ledger reporting applications SQL knowledge a plus Strong organizational and communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to achieve results.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Area of concentration (Finance, Accounting and/or Computer Sciences)

Functional – Information Management/Data acquisition, data management, programming and documentation/1-3 Years

TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCES

The candidate should possess strong technical and interpersonal skills and be willing to join a fast-paced high-profile team in the MLR reporting department. The candidate will be responsible for learning and improving Aetnas MLR reporting related activities while working in conjunction with individuals in accounting, actuarial, legal/compliance, and tax departments among many others. Job level will be assessed pending previous experience.
