Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring senior management is provided with the most accurate and timely consolidated reporting, including monthly reports, budgets and forecasts while driving revenue growth as well as efficient and productive use of company resources.

The Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Manager will work across the organization and provide high visibility, complex analysis to the executive and sales team used to make critical business decisions. This includes but is not limited to, customer analysis, sales forecast analysis as well as unique modeling for specific situations as they arise. This role requires strategic thinking and the ability to take complex situations and use analytical acumen to propose recommended solutions. It will require strong collaboration and partnership with the business, as well as the ability to navigate local and corporate structures and build network/relationships across the organization.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget in coordination with each business unit leader, including domestic and international
  • operations, including providing financial guidance in the development of the budget

  • Lead the update of the annual operating budget to ensure an accurate mid-year forecast; additional updates may be required
  • Provide analysis against actual results each month, including but not limited to:
    • Analyze gross to net sales results, including customer trends for major customers
    • Perform a detailed gross margin analysis by channel of trade, product and, in certain areas, by customer
    • Analyze all gross to net operating expense for each business unit, including distribution, manufacturing variances, G&A, sales and marketing expenses, as well as headcount analysis
    • Analyze areas of significant investment, including product development and capital spend
    • Provide detailed reporting analysis, including publication of key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards
  • Lead the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for each business unit, including analysis of results and explanation of variances
  • Prepare monthly Financial Presentation for review with Executive Management and France
  • Present financial presentations to various groups within the organization, including Executive Management
  • Act as the point of contact for high level, complex analysis for corporate decision making, which may be tied to contract renewals, pricing analysis, license/brand analysis and negotiations
  • Develop ad hoc models and analysis for the executive and sales team as needed
  • Manage team of 2 -3 financial analysts, including responsibility for recruiting, hiring, training employees, developing annual personal objectives to support the business and personal growth opportunities; perform performance reviews, including coaching where necessary
  • Lead internal staff meetings to ensure staff is aligned with strategic business objectives of the organization
  • Act as a resource for other areas, including but not limited managing projects, coordinating resources and timetables with business users and internal user departments
  • Coordinate with the IT department on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data for reporting
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in accounting, economics, mathematics or finance
  • 7 – 10+ years of finance, accounting and analytical experience with progressive responsibility, including management of staff
  • Consumer goods industry experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical pronouncements
  • Strong business partnering skills
  • Solid presentation skills, including exceptional Power Point skills
  • Strategic thinker, with a sharp eye for details
  • Able to work effectively across both local and corporate organizations
  • Influencing skills and project management experience in a matrix and complex organization, covering multi-region scope
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and Power Point
