Role Value Proposition:

The financial consultant (associate) will be a member of the Retirement Income Solutions (“RIS”) Finance Planning & Projections team and responsible for the financial earnings planning, projection & analysis within the Life & Income Funding Solutions (LIFS) suite of products within the RIS business segment. These products include Structured Settlements, Income Annuities, Post-Retirement Benefits & Specialized Benefit Resources (aka COLI/BOLI) products. Specific to this role, the associate will be responsible for the PRB and SBR products.

The financial consultant is expected to perform a variety of financial earnings projections, analyze results, and report financial information. This includes determining validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached. The associate is expected to use data to project future short- and long-term scenarios and anticipated results under the following financial measures: US GAAP, Statutory, various GAAP and Statutory stress projection scenarios, and Embedded Value. Candidate will support financial analysis, financial reporting and the integrity of financial data by utilizing existing financial projection models, and as warranted, enhance or modify these models. The candidate will be expected to articulate the underlying reasons for variances of projected earnings and financial balances relative to prior projections, earnings plans, and actual financial results. The analyst will also work closely with members of the RIS Finance Planning & Projections team, RIS/LIFS business partners and US Business Controllers, particularly during the annual earnings planning stage, and during the monthly & quarterly analysis of projected vs. actual financial results.

  • Exhibits and is recognized for a high-level of financial or business expertise gained through a series of professional assignments characterized by the assumption of progressively increasing responsibility and ongoing career development. Such expertise may be concentrated in a specific technical area or span multiple areas across finance.
  • Understands business plans and their relationship to the financial arena.
  • Supports Finance & LIFS management as a key internal consulting resource.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communications and business acumen with all parties to consulting relationships.
  • Lead projects as necessary.
  • Analyzes various financial measures such as profitability, mortality, sales & other metrics under GAAP, STAT & stress scenarios.
  • Seeks to employ LEAN principles to enhance efficiency of financial processes.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of GAAP & Statutory accounting concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Excel, Word, Power Point, and report-writing and task-management applications.

Required:

  • 5 + yrs. financial experience in a public or private company environment with proven ability to apply or provide complex technical knowledge or advice.
  • Life Insurance industry experience; and knowledge of the business, products and services.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or another field of expertise or equivalent work experience.
  • Data management/data science skills, with working knowledge of SQL, Access Database, ADVANCED Excel, Oracle, Database Management.
