Financial Analyst III P16

The Senior Financial Analyst in the Business Operations at Texas A&M University at Qatar ( TAMUQ ) is responsible for assisting with the annual Qatar Foundation budget preparation and submission process. Assists with allocating the Academic, Graduate, and Research budgets. Monitors budgets, maintains budgetary controls, prepares financial reports, reconciles housing expenditures, and manages fixed asset inventory records.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Five years of experience in budgeting, accounting, finance, or analytical/business support.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in business related field. Knowledge and experience with higher education budgeting, finance, and/or business operations.

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs, report design and presentation skills, project management skills, analytical skills, and the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using TAMU systems such as FAMIS , Canopy, BPP , and Business Objects. Familiar with TAMU , TAMUQ , QF, and/or higher education business operations. Customer service and problem solving skills in a complex environment. Familiarity with developing, enhancing, and monitoring internal controls and processes. Ability to balance customer service, efficiency, and compliance.

Detailed Job Duties

Duties Performed

  • Monitors campus-wide spending against approved budgets and maintains budgetary controls.
  • Maintains Business Objects templates and reports.
  • Provides analysis, feedback, and recommendations on budget adjustments between individual accounts, budget categories, and individual budget line items.

  • Assists with the preparation of the annual TAMUQ Academic, Graduate, and Research budget submission to QF.
  • Works with TAMUQ management and QF to develop the annual budget and provides feedback and analysis when needed.
  • Assists with completing the annual TAMU budget process for TAMUQ accounts.
  • Assists with the TAMUQ budget allocation process.

Duties Performed

  • Prepares financial reports for distribution to TAMUQ management, the main campus ( TAMU ), Qatar Foundation (QF), and the Joint Advisory Board ( JAB ).
  • Prepares financial projections, analyzes variances, and communicates findings.
  • Reporting includes, but is not limited to: monthly invoicing to QF, salary expenditure review, quarterly financial reporting, other financial reports as requested by management, and structured ad hoc reporting.

Duties Performed

  • Conducts data analysis and develops comparative scenarios as needed by management.
  • May include analysis of personnel expenditures such as salaries, benefits and incentives.
  • Prepares financial projections and variance analysis as needed on all expenditures.

  • Records payment of housing expenditures by property and individual unit.
  • Maintains records of housing payments and outstanding payments due within each fiscal year. *Completes routine reconciliation to ensure housing expenditures for each unit are funded by and aligned with the salary funding source of the occupant.

Duties Performed

  • Serves as TAMUQ Department Property contact.
  • Coordinates entry and removal of inventory items into the FAMIS Fixed Asset module.
  • Coordinates annual inventory certification process with TAMUQ departmental property contacts.
