FINANCIAL ANALYST II – Little Rock, AR

Summary:
In support of the Regulated Operations business unit, this position analyzes and projects financial effects associated with management decisions and changes in the business environment for use by other departments, senior management and agencies external to the business unit.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Use analytical and spreadsheet skills to support benchmarking efforts, cost comparisons, productivity/efficiency studies and any other SBU request requiring business analysis.
  • Prepare various types of financial analysis projects for review (e.g. insurance risk analysis, effective interest rates, internal rate of return, lease vs. purchase, mortgage/amortization schedules, discounted cash flows, revenue requirements, utility comparisons, budget evaluations).
  • Prepare various financial forecasts and develop financial models (e.g. resource allocation, regulatory testimony support, rate case schedules, settlement negotiations, future financing, and impact of accounting issues).
  • Ensure that budget reports accurately reflect expenditures and related transactions in order to assure useful management information and sound budgetary control.
  • Provide management with assistance in developing and monitoring their budgets, including providing meaningful budget information and ad hoc reports, such as P&L, Metrics, etc.
  • Coordinate the reporting of performance management goals.
  • Use a variety of software tools: 1) to perform analyses, 2) to support report preparation, 3) to extract needed information from SAP and other databases for use at the request of clients.
  • Participate on or lead cross-functional teams to provide business, accounting/financial expertise in support of client efforts.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting, finance, gas operations operations, or engineering.

Physical Requirements:

Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work under pressure in a short time frame with quality.
  • Able to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, nights and/or weekends) occasionally, as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
