Financial Analyst I

Applied Materials is hiring new college graduates for a two year rotational program that includes training, networking, mentoring, and coaching opportunities. The training includes Company information sessions, industry information, finance software tools, leadership, presentation, and communications skills. Additionally, the program will also provide team-building with other New College Graduates both in Santa Clara and Austin.

Entry level rotational job that will involve two rotations in the following areas:

• Global Financial Planning & Analysis
• Silicon Systems Financial Planning & Analysis
• Global Services and Spares Financial Planning & Analysis
• Display Sales Financial Planning & Analysis
• Corporate Accounting
• Global Trade and Risk Management

The two roles will be determined jointly by the interest and experience of the candidate and the hiring manager.

Responsibilities vary by job, but often involve the following:

• Prepare financial trend, and metrics analysis to enable meaningful management review and decision-making
  
• Support portfolio management and project prioritization processes. Track and report project costs, ROI and profitability trends
  
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements as well as provided ad hoc analyses
  
• Prepare presentations and coordinate with management, sales, operations and finance peers to prepare financial models
  
• Prepare and execute journal entries and other financial transactions
  
• Identify process improvements in core areas of responsibility
  

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Strong financial and data analysis skills, including:
  
  • Financial statement and accounting analysis skills
    
  • Ability to use data from disparate sources to draw business conclusions
    
  • Experience building simplified models to address complex business problems, using Microsoft Excel and other tools as appropriate
    
• Presentation and communication skills that demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with different levels of the finance and operations organizations
  
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and customer relationship skills
  
• Problem-solving skills
  
• Strong desire to learn and grow your career within the organization

Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics
• Intermediate Accounting coursework
• Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet abilities (Excel)
• 0-2 years of experience
• GPA of 3.0 or above
