Financial Analyst External Reporting (Maplewood, MN)

3M is seeking a Financial Analyst for the Global Financial Accounting Center (GFAC) External Reporting group located in Maplewood, MN.

Job Summary :

The Financial Analyst for External Reporting is a highly visible position within 3M’s Global Financial Accounting Center. The Financial Analyst serves as the external reporting resource for the Company in its SEC filings and works with both internal and external customers on most external communications to analysts and 3M investors.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the preparation of the quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K regulatory filings, including assistance with filing via XBRL.
Prepare, maintain and communicate support to internal and external clients on 10-Q and 10-K regulatory filings.
Ensure compliance with SEC filing requirements.
Provide assistance with special projects as needed, for example: providing technical accounting guidance to clients and reviewing externally reported information.
Primary responsibility for impairment testing, deferred revenue analysis, asset retirement obligation review, and 3M Foundation annual reporting.
Assist in certain Company medical and retirement plan financial statement preparation.
Interface with the Company’s SOX, Global Financial Standards, and Accounting Research groups as required concerning new accounting standards or periodic reviews of existing standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance or accounting from an accredited university.
Minimum two (2) years of accounting and/or finance experience.
Experience with U.S. GAAP.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA certification.
Minimum three (3) years of accounting and/or finance experience.
Experience with external reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (at all levels in the organization).
Big 4 public accounting experience.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including attention to detail.
Demonstrated competencies in the use of GEDW and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
Previous experience with XBRL.
Team player with ability to work with a variety of internal and external clients in a consultative role. Able to establish and maintain productive relationships.
