Financial Analyst

Description

The Financial Analyst role is broadly responsible for providing financial reporting and performance analysis for a Consumer Lending Home Equity line of business. Scope includes responsibility for completing the month-end close process, reporting of monthly financial results and compiling key performance metrics. The position is also responsible for the proactive identification of financial issues, risks and opportunities that exist in the business, communicating them to senior finance and line of business management and synchronizing the financial impacts in budgets and forecasts.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Completing the monthly financial close process by reviewing financial results and determining necessary accruals or adjustments in order to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Compiling monthly volume and statistical metrics for use in both internal and external reporting
  • Preparing monthly financial reporting which compares results to forecast, budget and prior periods. A key deliverable is insightful variance commentary that highlights differences at a detailed driver level and delineates volume vs rate related variances
  • Development of monthly forecast for business related revenues and expenditures related to business volume and balance targets
  • Participation in the annual financial budget process including the creation of financial reporting packages and documentation of key assumptions which reflect the input of line of business management
  • Participate in annual CCAR process by reviewing model results, providing key metrics to capital team and reviewing output with line of business

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 1+ year experience in financial analysis, reporting or accounting
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with ability to succinctly communicate complex financial issues both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and within tight deadlines
  • Capable of working with large volumes of financial data while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in reporting out results
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access
  • Balance Sheet forecasting experience a plus

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: 8:30 – 5:00
