Summary

Produce, audit, maintain and distribute complex financial reporting. Perform accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, moderate measurement of account values, journal entry and account reconciliation. Perform variance analysis for various financial data and metrics.

Essential Functions

Maintain general ledger accounts including the determination of journal entry requirements, and preparation and posting of journal entries

Apply working knowledge of GAAP and related guidance

Conduct preliminary review of financial reports prior to final close of general ledger

Conduct monthly general ledger account reconciliations and other financial controls in compliance with company policy and Sarbanes-Oxley

Perform analysis of financial results as part of the financial and operational review process

Research questions for management; investigate and explain variances to expectations

Understand and maintain assigned account/transaction or process from inception through approval, measurement, recording, reporting and monitoring

Participate in cross-functional work teams and continuously improve XPO Logistics’ processes

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial reporting by auditing entries against financial activity and verifying that results are properly reported

Continually look to reduce company costs and spend associated with related responsibilities

Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance generally required. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience or training

3-5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a large, multi-component company and in preparing and auditing complex financial reports

System knowledge should include intermediate knowledge of Oracle general ledger or fixed assets, spreadsheet skills, and working knowledge of word processing, e-mail and financial database applications.

Strong skills in business writing and editing; strong communication skills (oral and written); ability to communicate effectively with support peers, end users, and all levels of corporate management.

Strong interpersonal skills; participate in a team environment and build strong working relationships. Ability to provide some work direction to team members.

Demonstrated time management skills; multi-task and prioritize workloads; demonstrated analytical capabilities; effectively identify and resolve problems in high visibility, high stress situations.

Consistently performs tasks with a high-level attention to detail.

Ability to receive, protect and maintain confidential information.
