JOB SUMMARY:

The Finance Associate will be responsible for effectively optimizing overall business and financial performance through financial modeling, budget preparation, data analysis, and tracking of KPIs to improve decision making.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the development of the quarterly forecasts, developing analyses and projections which are used to complete the quarterly forecast package
  • Assist in preparation of budgets, forecasts and long range plans
  • Performs analysis of relationships between complex operations, related contracts and financial transactions
  • Conducts investigation of variances to budgets, forecasts and prior year results
  • Updates and maintains forecast models with current data and accurate operational assumptions
  • Prepares and consolidates financial presentations and operating metrics for senior management team and board of directors
  • Prepares both routine and special reports for management
  • Performs financial analysis and other ad hoc projects, including scenario planning for new and existing business opportunities
  • Works with accounting department during the month end close process to ensure results are recorded properly for internal reporting
  • Assists with monthly analysis of business unit performance and highlights drivers of variances vs. budget and forecast
  • Preparation of budgets
  • Attends budget meetings and assist with data gathering.
  • Assists with ongoing development of financial reporting and analysis tools
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including written and verbal communication, and presenting to management, auditors, and non-accounting stakeholders
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail in order to adapt to varied workflows, multiple tasks, and changing priorities
  • High level of motivation and aptitude for problem solving, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as required
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills are required to communicate technical accounting requirements to non-technical audience
  • Advanced Excel proficiency

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field with 2 – 3 years of relevant experience (preferred)
  • Experience and advanced knowledge in financial modeling
  • Experience working in Oil & Gas accounting with industry knowledge and terminology preferred
  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough understanding of all accounting standards and policies
  • Expertise in working with both internal and external stakeholders and being comfortable presenting to senior management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time
  • Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to concentrate
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office

equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work will are generally from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm but may vary due to the workload and needs of the company.

TRAVEL:

Minimal travel is expected for this position.
