Finsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres which is situated 160km north west of Kimberley and 109km south of

Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

JOB DESCRIPTION : Co-ordinate the mining activities within a section to achieve all required targets and to ensure good

communication both up and down and ensure safety and health of employees

Main Tasks and Responsibilities :

• Allocate and organise the availability of resources (including consumables and raw materials) and regulate the utilization of

resources within designated area of responsibility to ensure achievement of production targets

• Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issues to ensure effective integration with existing application of

technology

• Co-ordinate the preparation of all project technical documents to ensure that the technical content and cost are within the

scope of work

• Determine schedules, assign work and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of

production targets

• Develop and manage the implementation of the quality plan to ensure adherence to organisational quality standards
• Ensure the availability of approved mining layouts and production plans
• Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implementing corrective actions to ensure attainment of production plan
• Implement the organisations risk management plan, schedule risk assessments and draw up action plans to minimize or

eliminate operational risks

• Initiate and manage development of improved technical standards and systems to build effective operational support for

achievement of internal production targets

• Interpret the mining operational plan and production results to develop a monthly operation plan in accordance with the annual

production plan requirements

• Manage construction and commissioning activities according to the project plan and or requirements, organisational standards

and procedures

• Manage the investigation and development of mining resources to allow for continuous improvement in terms of efficiency and

unit cost

• Oversee and enforce the inspection of materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
• Review and advise on Mining design progress and status according to the project plan and project objectives
• Review and set production objectives and co-ordinate implementation of policy and procedures to optimize processes and

systems

• Review progressive production output information and statistics, investigate and action deviations to ensure attainment of

production plan

Minimum Requirements :

• Grade 12
• Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
• Mine Overseer Certificate (DMR)
• COM Certificate Strata Control – an advantage
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Shiftboss in an underground environment
• Valid driver’s licence
• Computer literate
