Field Engineer

Tetra Tech currently has an opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our team!

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer and coordinate all site engineering and technical activities including but not limited to, property survey, field layout and design, interpretation of designs and specifications, and furnishing of general engineering assistance to on-site staff as needed.

• Administrate and coordinate engineering and technical aspects of subcontractor work; direct tests, inspections and reviews of subcontractor efforts to ensure satisfactory performance.

• Oversee site purchasing activities as required, including preparation of field purchase order contracts; review purchase requisitions; refer questionable cases or those outside limits of authority to superior for disposition.

• Direct the preparation of field surveys, layouts and construction estimates.

• Ensure performance of all required field tests and inspection work for construction site; provide technical guidance and assistance to inspectors; maintains associated records and as-built documentation within the Field Engineering Department.

• Keep staff informed of engineering progress, requirements, problems, changes, additions and omissions to scope of work and similar matters; report costs, progress, activity and other matters; establish and maintain necessary supporting records and files within the Field Engineering Department.

• Provide for the receipt, distribution, control and interpretation of drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and other technical information; maintains field engineering and drawing files.

• Monitor work progress for situations which are potential “changed conditions” of contract; alert the Lead Field Engineer, Construction Superintendent and Project Manager of any such areas identified which are or may become a “changed condition.”

• Perform various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

• 5-8 years of applicable experience.

• Ability to travel to different project sites.
