Equity Analyst – UIT

Job Summary
:
Support Equity Portfolio Managers with the investment process of UIT equity portfolios by assisting with individual security and asset class research as well as performance attribution to aid with investment decisions. Support and grow UIT equity assets by creating and assisting with market and portfolio commentary.


Key Responsibilities
:
  • Lead equity surveillance and monitoring activities to ensure proper monitoring of corporate actions, mergers, and notable market events impacting all UIT portfolios and ensure timely and effective communication to Portfolio Managers.
  • Contribute and research new ideas through both independent and management directed research projects as part of the portfolio construction and new product development process
  • Support investment activities related to UIT equity portfolios, including performance reporting and attribution, assisting with marketing initiatives, strategic planning, and portfolio commentary.
  • Act as the primary contact to Business Development/Distribution for portfolio specific questions on underlying portfolio holdings, valuations and pertinent information critical to supporting UIT equity strategies.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers to provide content and thought leadership to distribution on UIT portfolios including performance, competitive analysis, valuation and overall portfolio positioning and analysis.
  • Support the UIT Division in special project activities and broad initiatives from multiple groups including Business Development, Investment Research, Product Development and Management.
  • Projects may be outside the normal scope of the day-to-day functions which allow for further development of skills and a better understanding of the business environment.
Qualifications

Work Experience:
  • 3+ years industry experience/knowledge strongly preferred, but not required
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office – advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with Bloomberg or Factset is a plus
Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Interest in financial markets, investing and fundamental analysis
  • Good communication skills with an emphasis on strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Open minded, flexible and willing to work collaboratively
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate over the phone and face-to-face with a variety of individuals at all technical levels are required
Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field required
License/Registration/Certification: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Series 7 required within 90 days following the completion of training; Series 63 required within 90 days of obtaining Series 7 licensing; employment contingent upon licensing
  • Progress towards a CFA charter or interest shown in obtaining the designation is a strongly prefered
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures
  • Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment
