Job Description

The Infrastructure Business Line of Arcadis is searching for an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our team in Akron, Ohio. This entry level, full-time position requires attention to detail, exceptional organization skills, strong work ethic, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible, possessing the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly.

Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office related tasks and may include some travel and field work.The qualified candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Engineering analysis and construction plan preparation for various clients including the Ohio Department of Transportation, local municipalities, and county governments.
  • Technical work will include roadway alignment, drainage design, right of way plan preparation, and traffic engineering.
  • Preparation of visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of data and trends
  • Assist with writing and preparing technical reports, evaluations, designs, work plans and memoranda
  • Support project management efforts such as developing and managing project scopes, budgets, and client deliverables
  • Work closely and communicate regularly with staff across Arcadis, clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Client facing tasks including: preparation of and conducting effective presentations, participation in client meetings and field interaction with clients and subcontractors.
  • Work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously, utilizing organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Exercises judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Will ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.

Required Qualifications

  • 0 – 2 years experience in Transportation Design.
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of roadway alignment, drainage design, right of way plan preparation, and traffic engineering.
  • Experience with engineering analysis and construction plan preparation

This position requires a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT Certification
  • Knowledge of Microstation/Geopak and AutoCAD/Civil 3D as preferred qualifications
