The Senior Buyer provides materials, services, parts and equipment by developing sources of supply and monitoring supplier performance; obtaining required materials, services, parts and equipment, verifying receipt of items, authorizing payment and managing and controlling inventory. This position serves as a liaison between Inland’s vendors and internal customers. The Senior Buyer must be able to evaluate price proposals, financial reports, data and information to determine effective solutions. This position is further responsible for delivering savings targets for assigned categories, supporting other cost reduction initiatives and assisting the VP of Supply Chain with global procurement strategy, processes, and execution.

Issues requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and selects best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements. Negotiates and manages long term pricing agreements on critical commodities.
Completes purchase requests with domestic and international suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying all transactions.
Handles correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required.
Acts as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems.
Processes non-conforming material requests and RMA requests with supply chain partners.
Authorizes payment for purchases by reviewing invoices and related documentation.
Maintains appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management.
Maintains accuracy of stock code information within SYSPRO (Inland ERP System), including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data, etc.
Ensures SYSPRO parameters are maintained by monitoring minimum, maximum, safety, and current inventory levels; making recommendations to management for adjustments to levels.
Monitors supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance.
Maintains services and office equipment by conferring with suppliers; monitoring and recording service agreements to ensure terms are met.
Assists internal and external customers by interpreting laws, policy, codes, and regulations pertaining to purchasing; answers inquiries both orally and in writing concerning purchasing operations.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other job related tasks as needed; enabling other workers to achieve their job objectives.
Essential
skills and experience: BA or BS in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field; MBA, CPM or APICS certification desirable.
3+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, basics of Cost Accounting, and tracking budget expenses.
Exceptional negotiation skills
Excellent supplier selection / management skills
Knowledge of MRP processes
Manufacturing experience beneficial.
Work experience in a print manufacturing environment beneficial.
Working knowledge of the legal aspects of procurement and contract law.
Knowledge of import freight movement.
Strong business partner engagement and relationship development skills

Must be analytical, innovative, decisive
Nonessential
skills and experience: Advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain or Finance
Additional experience in printing/packaging or related field, specifically in the Pressure Sensitive or Cut and Stack Label industry
Lean management skills
Managerial experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
