Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer

Kleinfelder’s Tulsa Oklahoma operations is looking for an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical competency for a diversity of project opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the industry’s best, tackling technical challenges on large scale projects, including levees, highways, bridges and retaining wall systems.

The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years related experience in geotechnical engineering consulting, design, or construction and the ability to provide high-end technical support on complex projects.

Strong analytical skills are preferred in areas including:

  • Slope stability
  • Retaining walls
  • Seepage
  • Deep Foundation
  • Pavement

Knowledge of commercial, infrastructure, and/or heavy civil project design and construction are preferred.

Candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Immediate job duties will include supporting the existing geotechnical operations and will include the following:

  • geotechnical logging of subsurface conditions encountered in exploratory borings for various types of geotechnical projects;
  • entering subsurface information obtained during logging into gINT to prepare graphical boring logs for geotechnical reports;
  • utilizing CAD to prepare various figures for geotechnical reports;
  • working in the soils lab to conduct lab tests to support both geotechnical and materials testing operations;
  • performing field testing and inspection duties to support both geotechnical and materials testing operations.

General responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting proposal development
  • Project and task assignments
  • Field investigations
  • Foundation design and recommendations
  • Slope stability and settlement analyses
  • Pavement design
  • Technical report writing
  • Oversight of construction activities
  • Geotechnical support for multi-disciplinary projects

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in local soil/geology and the local market.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Enthusiasm for working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability of organizing priorities and multi-tasking effectively.
  • A thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • A can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset is essential.

Some travel to project sites and other Kleinfelder offices is required. The Oklahoma office offers a wide range of challenging project work and a great opportunity to develop professionally.

Education:
BS degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering and EIT is required (or the ability to obtain within 3 months), with MS degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
