ENTRY LEVEL ELECTRICAL / PHOTOVOLTAIC (SOLAR) ESTIMATOR

BioStar Renewables, a Kansas City based independently managed renewable energy investment company is currently looking for an entry level Electrical / Solar Estimator.

Responsibilities include serving as an estimator resource to the solar project estimating staff, solar project estimating, and executing the estimating process within the procedure guidelines set forth.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Provide accurate project/job estimates covering all aspects of electrical and solar estimating under supervision of senior estimators
• Read plans, specifications, perform quantities take off
• Solicit bid prices from vendors for required materials
• Load job into estimating system software, *Accubid
• Organize and prepare scope of work description and price proposal on bid
• Submit proposal or bid to electrical contractor or general contractor(s) under guidance of senior estimator
• Work with team to develop possible value engineering, cost savings or project enhancements for each proposal
• Follow up bids/estimates on a timely basis

Position Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum 3 years as an electrical apprentice
• Thorough knowledge of the electrical and/or solar field
• Previous experience as an electrical estimator is not required, but is desirable
• Motivated to grow into management-level electrical estimator role
• Familiarity with electrical materials and construction methods, including requirements for different construction types (commercial, industrial, residential)
• Thorough knowledge of NEC Code is essential
• Strong computer skills, which include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

• Mathematics aptitude
• Multi-task and meet deadlines

Preferred:

• 3 to 4 years electrical apprentice training or license training in estimating
• Ability to interpret electrical schematic designs
• Other advanced training, college courses, etc. are desirable
