Entry Level Digital HW Design Electrical Engineer – Custom Products

Applied Technology is a prototyping center within Motorola Solutions. We specialize in proof-of-concept and low-volume advanced communications products for government and industry customers. Ideal candidates for this position are engineering students graduating in the near future or recent graduates, with diverse knowledge and a wide variety of interests, especially in embedded systems and wireless communications.

You will be a member of several (1-6 person) multi-disciplinary teams, and will be responsible for digital circuit design, component selection, schematic entry, integration, and verification. Typical designs will include a microprocessor, FPGA, RAM, FLASH, A/D and D/A converters, voltage regulators, and interface logic.

In this technical role, you will be involved in all phases of projects, from requirements analysis and system architecture, through layout, prototype characterization, and product realization.

You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision. Projects can vary greatly from one to the next, so you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges.

As you will be working in small project teams and regularly interacting with customers and management, excellent communications and teamwork skills are essential.

Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts. Some contracts may have higher-level clearance requirements.

  • A BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a similar engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Applicant should have experience with schematic capture using Mentor Graphics’ Design Architect and/or Cadence Capture.
  • Diverse hardware development experience, with knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, vector signal analyzers, signal generators, etc.​
  • FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
