Summary of Job:

Are you a PASSIONATE and DRIVEN individual interested in a role leading and delivering cross-functional project and program efforts? You will be responsible for managing programs and projects of varying complexity, including enterprise-wide, cross-functional, strategic initiatives that drive business value. You will be responsible for delivering these efforts to agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives. This role will report to the Senior Director of IT and will have an opportunity to contribute to and/or lead a variety of different types of projects and programs including new acquisition integrations, enterprise risk management efforts, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and technology upgrades and deployments.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

  • Proven ability to quickly CONNECT with sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; manage risk; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Responsible for defining, planning, managing, and delivering assigned initiatives on behalf of IT, business, and/or operations. Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope, acceptable level of risk, and quantifiable business benefit
  • Direct large-scale, complex programs and projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrixed partners. Partner with stakeholders to understand their drivers and needs, and uses that knowledge and those relationships to drive effective prioritization and roadmaps for delivery. Navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively.
  • Directly manage all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with matrixed IT and business partners to oversee all phases of a project. Rigorously manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Develop integrated program and project plans, resource plans, risk management plans, contingency plans, budgets, and related project management artifacts to stay OUT FRONT of project success and anticipate leaderships’ needs. Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan. Proposes recommendations and adjustments to plans as required
  • Willingness to dive into detail on complex topics and issues in order to provide direction/resolution.
  • Manage program and project budgets and spend with an eye towards repeatable on-time, on-budget, on-scope project delivery. Validate financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resource and other related project expenditures. Manage the up-front estimation and planning process for new initiatives
  • Develop change management, training, and communication plans and approaches necessary to execute on responsibilities. Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders, steering committees, etc. on different aspects of assigned initiatives and driving decisions and guidance. Responsible for building and managing strong relationships with stakeholders and decision makers
  • Source, contract and manage external partner teams in conjunction with internal teams to complete projects.
  • Work to REIMAGINE the project management discipline and DEVELOP project management capabilities within Vail Resorts’ IT department and the broader organization.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related concentration.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering cross functional prorgams and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate project teams to achieve objectives
  • Experience working with a cross-functional team in the areas of technology, marketing and operations disciplines
  • Project Management Certifications (Not Required, but preferred)
  • Microsoft suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project.
  • Experience managing vendors is required
  • Experience with various Project Management methodologies preferred
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Independent, self-motivated and avid delivery professional
  • Strong leadership background to effectively manage, mentor, and grow the Project Management Discipline
