Engineer, Project Mgmt 3

Responsibilities

Experience in aerospace mechanical or structural design or analysis, and project engineering, preferably including: design and drawing release, mechanical, electrical, structural, or dynamic analysis, materials, processing and finish selection; specification interpretation and preparation; manufacturing and supplier support, testing and failure analysis; evaluation of new tools and methods; supplier and customer interface; preparation of statements of work , schedules, risk abatement plans, minutes, reports, design reviews; manage technical compliance; product and process improvement; technical negotiations and problem solving; root cause analysis.

Experience in successful, on time, accurate execution of work packages and job assignments. Strong interpersonal skills are required: Written and verbal communications; ability to work in a cross-functional, matrix envionment; tact and diplomacy; problem resolution. Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously. Creativity , innovation ,and ability to “see the big picture” are strongly desired. Knowledge of both technical and business disciplines preferred.

Must be computer literate (office automation software; engineering design, documentation, and analysis software). Experience in 3D Design and Engineering software strongly desired (CREO/ Pro-E preferred).

Responsibilities: Product configuration definition; layout and drawing preparation. Development of models, tolerancing, work packages. Close coordination with and provide direction to designer/drafters supporting project completion. Provide technical information and written descriptions for proposals and prepare detailed SOW.

Overall technical responsiblity and ownership of assigned programs:

Define and manage resource requirements (staffing, tools, budget) for all engineering activities on these programs.

Develop program technical tasks schedule, help develop overall schedule. Manage progress to schedule, and compliance with technical and program requirements, drawing releases, and technical integrity of product.

Lead customer interface efforts, specifically weedly update meetings, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.

Coordinate with Engeeringer Test Laboratory when prepareing for and executing product maturity, safety of flight and full qualification testing.

Serve as technical interface with suppliers and customers; document meetings, discussions, decisions; concurrent development of data to support needs of interncal customers.

Track, document, help negotiate constructive changes; ensure data releases are compolete accurate and on time.

Support Design Manager and Program Manager in successful completion of project objectives. Close coordination iwth Manufactuing Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing for concurrent product definition, and in provide positive support to Factory.

Participate in process and product improvement efforts. Support multiple projects simultaneously, work independently. Activiely participate in, and/or make technical presentations for, internal and customer design reviews. Support ISO procedures and audits.

Reports to: Hard line Director of Engineering and Program Management. Domestic and international travel required once Covid-19 restrictions lifted.

Qualifications

Requirements and background : BS in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, and relevant experience as defined below. MS or graduate studies are a plus. Should be familiar with Aerospace industry, mechanical systems, and military standards and practices.
