The Engineer I will support SRC’s JTECH contract, among other programs. On the JTECH contract, engineers may support one or more subject areas including research, analysis, requirements, design, development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex radar systems simulators and ancillary support systems fielded on various Department of Defense test and training ranges throughout the United States. The radar systems simulators are typically threat radar simulators that implement complex RF and signal processing hardware, firmware, and software to represent the entire system from operator controls and displays to the RF signals that are radiated from the actual radar antennas. Ancillary support systems include power systems (DC and AC), tactical communications systems (voice and datalink), and network communications (copper, fiber, and RF). Each system implemented is typically an integrated combination of Commercial Off-the-shelf Technology and custom hardware, firmware, and software developed by SRC engineers. Custom circuit board designs are common. Use of FPGAs and complex digital signal processing techniques is common. Software development occurs in both Unix and Windows environments in multiple contemporary software languages on both small scale and large scale computing platforms. Testing is accomplished both manually and through automated test scripts written by SRC engineers using various test tools and environments. Development labs are outfitted with the latest test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, scopes, and multi-meters which are commonly used by SRC engineers. Occasional travel to support meetings, reviews, and system deployments is possible for some team members. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
