SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Engineer – Electric Transmission Services will be responsible for performing transmission scheduling functions, determining Available Transmission Capacity (ATC), managing the OATI Scheduling System and the Open Access Same-time Information System (OASIS), including long term requests and pre-schedule the Company’s Electric Transmission System. The Engineer will also learn the monthly billing and reporting process.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
  • Participate and lead in department tasks to improve OATI webTrans scheduling system tools
  • Engineer will maintain the system model including TTC, ATC, POR’s / POD’s and Path’s within the OASIS and webTrans software systems
  • Become familiar with current Tariff language and support FERC compliance requests
  • Keep abreast of NERC, WECC, FERC and NAESB rules and standards
  • Work with Planning Department on NWMT system model
  • Support real time system operations
  • Provide daily pre-scheduling function on a rotating basis
  • Provide back-up for daily load forecasting function
  • Participate in regional transmission committees if needed
  • Participate in regulatory compliance activities
  • Participate in knowledge sharing within Transmission Services

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Four year degree in Engineering required
  • Basic knowledge of energy accounting and power system operations
  • OATI and/or software experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet software
  • Able to work alone and in a team environment
  • Project focused and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes in work task assignments
