Employment Coordinator – G14

Maintains accurate records of workforce positions; notifies Human Resource department of job vacancies; screens applicants. Schedules and conducts employee interviews; completes new employee paperwork; gathers tax information, information regarding previous medical history, and withholding allowances information. Enters new employee information to the computer database. Notifies Human Resource department concerning employee eligibility for driver safety award. Enters employees’ work hours to the payroll system; approves weekly and bi-weekly payrolls; approves bi-weekly mileage reimbursement payments. Transfers employees within the payroll system; enters employee deployment information and forwards papers. Approves all Employee Disciplinary Actions; collects signed Employee Disciplinary Action forms; forwards documents to Human Resource department. Collects First Injury Reports and enters information to the Workmen’s Compensation provider Web site. Notifies supervisors when employee performance evaluations are due; collects evaluations and forwards to Human Resource department; calculates employee raise. Schedules random drug testing. Responds to employee questions concerning pay, vacation time, or sick leave time; maintains employee records. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of government payroll procedures and practices. Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, laws, and requirements. Skill in problem solving and decision making. Skill in operating standard office equipment including work related computer applications. Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Educational and Training Requirements:

Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Physical Requirements:

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
