Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer

This is a position within the Platform Software Team in the Engineering Department in one of the hottest wireless startups in the Northeast! Parallel Wireless is reimagining the RAN as the only provider of 3G and 4G/LTE solutions that dramatically reduce the cost and time-to-market of building or expanding wireless networks. Whether macro, metro, rural, small cell, public safety or enterprise, we are reimagining how to accelerate the access network build out while paving the road to 5G HetNets. This world-first technology uses open fully 3GPP-compliant interfaces, allows real-time network orchestration, supports new services, and reduces the time/cost to build, optimize, secure, and evolve the RAN/EPC.

Job Responsibilities:

In this role the candidate will be a key contributor on a multi-functional team responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining board-level and platform infrastructure key to our product line. Responsibilities include writing design and functional specs, designing and coding software, integration and unit testing, bringing up new boards/systems, and working with Manufacturing and Customer Support teams to quickly bring-up and platform software. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a team with hardware, software, and manufacturing/test engineers.

Job Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in low-level embedded software development
• Experience with RF platforms (radios, radars, test equipment, etc), and fundamental RF/radio concepts
• Proficiency in C, C++
• Comfortable with digital (and some analog) hardware, and common interface technologies (ex: I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet), and ability to read data sheets and schematics
• Knowledge of data structures and object-oriented design
• Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, JTAG emulators, logic analyzers)
• Experience with Linux SBC (e.g. Raspberry Pi), JTAG debuggers, Open Source, Networking protocols, Python and scripting languages, are all pluses
• Security, and secure system design, a plus

Education:

• BS in EE/CS; or equivalent training, education and experience
