Electrical Design Engineer

Part of the engineering team, providing a timely, technically correct and effective engineering function for Eaton MEDC. The main responsibility is the design and production of Bills of Materials for the company’s range of products. The role will also include providing technical assistance for all product ranges. The products are certified for use in hazardous areas and / or functional safety systems around the world for blue chip customers.

A. Applies sound general engineering principles and electrical design knowledge / expertise to produce BOMs, drawings and technical specifications from customer orders, ensuring that these are delivered technically correct, fit for purpose and within service levels required

B. Creates and reviews documentation in order to avoid systematic failures in functional safety, including electrical and mechanical drawings, BOMs and specifications

C. Provides wide ranging technical support as required to customers and all areas of the business, including, sales, customer service, manufacturing, supply chain and quality department and ensures that this is provided speedily and accurately

D. Liaises with manufacturing, quality, production engineering and supply chain areas to resolve design issues

E. Plans and develops experimental test programs, analyses test data and reports to ensure designs meet functional; and hazardous area requirements

F. Liaises with certification bodies, to introduce new or updated certification as required

Qualifications

Preferably educated to Degree level in an electrical engineering discipline, though other qualifications and relevant experience will be taken into account

2 years’ experience in a similar role

CAD skills preferred, though not essential

An aptitude to effectively assimilate and interpret engineering, technical or commercial requirements
