JOB DESCRIPTION

Non-personal services in support of U.S. Air Force voluntary off duty education program to include providing academic advisement, information, and guidance plus preparation of documents associated with the services provided and administrative duties as assigned.

1.) Advises active duty AF personnel on all programs available through voluntary off-duty education, the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), AF Institute of Advanced Distributive Learning (AFIADL), officer accession programs and other educational support programs as required by the Chief of Education and Training. Keeps the section chief current on all program and catalog changes and advises affected students promptly.

2.) advises AF personnel of Professional Military Education (SNCOA, SOS, AFIT, ACSC, AWC) programs available for enlisted personnel and officers by correspondence, in residence or seminar format and assists them in registering for appropriate programs.

3.) Provides information and required forms to prospective applicants of specialized AF

programs to include (but not necessarily limited to): ELA, LEAD, SOAR, AFROTC/ASCP, and OTS. The contractor will assist applicants with determination of their grade point average (GPA) requirement per specific program guidelines.

4.) Provides information regarding Air Force tuition assistance, VA education benefits

referrals, federal financial assistance programs, local scholarships, and Air Force Aid Society grants to all eligible personnel. Assists students with completion of all applicable

forms/applications.

5.) Refers students to the appropriate academic institution representative for registration and enrollment in courses or programs that pertain to their education goals.

6.) Must become thoroughly familiar with the DANTES test program and advises students of DANTES tests that are applicable to their programs of study. Administers and interprets nontimed interest and placement tests as appropriate to the individual counseling process.

7.) Must become thoroughly familiar with the DANTES and AFAIDL test programs and

advise students of tests that are applicable to their programs of study. Administers and interprets tests as appropriate.

8 .) Assists AF students in changing education level codes by preparing appropriate

correspondence, forms, and academic documentation required to update individual AF personnel records with their current educational status. After document verification by an ESC or designee, forwards information to the appropriate agency via mail, fax, or computer, as available.

9.) Conducts follow-up activities (phone calls, mail-outs, emails) to ensure individual student educational objectives are being met.

10.) Responsible for preparing all necessary correspondence and forms and maintains related records and logs required to support all aspects of job tasks. Also maintains statistical data as required by the BTES team leader and assists with reports and other administrative tasks as requested.

11.) Advises on-base group(s) sponsoring CCAF graduation ceremonies. Provides ESO with detailed timeline of graduation-related activities at least 3 months in advance of graduation dates. Provides weekly updates via email up to the day of the ceremony. Performs administrative follow-up including thank you letters and an after-action report.

12.) Maintains a by-name and date record showing advisement or counseling sessions

conducted and submits to the BTES Team Leader at the Education Center, along with the invoice and a copy of the weekly timesheets, at the end of each month.

13.) Uses the Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) to maintain individual student records.

14.) Helps at the front desk with walk-in and phone customers as needed. Assist with publishing the Education newsletter, updating the Education Opportunities

brochure as needed, and maintaining the local BTES web site. Assist the BTES with the necessary logistics (classrooms, material support, etc…) to conduct the on base seminars. Assists with accounting spreadsheet entries, tracking metrics, publicity materials, survey collection and compilation, filing and other program-related administrative work as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.) Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited American college or university is required in any of the following areas: Education, Social Work, Psychology or Sociology (other related fields may be considered if applicant pool is not sufficient).

2.) Master’s degree and/or 15-30 semester hours in counseling, secondary education or a related discipline is preferred.

3.) Ability to read, write and understand English fluently.

4.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

5.) Appropriate related professional work or volunteer experience of at least one (1) year is desirable.

6.) Knowledge of and/or experience with AF terminology, office procedures, and education programs plus familiarity/ability to work with WINDOWS NT, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
