Full Time The Department of Licensing (DOL) impacts more citizens directly than any other state agency. The Customer Relations Division (CRD) provides outstanding customer service as we license drivers and their vehicles/vessels, deal with their issues, and solve customers’ problems.

The Opportunity:

As a Licensing Services Representative 4 (LSR4), you will have the opportunity to oversee the daily management and administration of driver licensing services in a Licensing Services Office. An LSR4 is responsible for managing staff who work with customers to analyze situations and make independent decisions regarding authenticity of documents used to verify and establish identity and they work under the guidance of Human Resource performance management practices, State and Federal regulations, Agency policies and procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. The successful candidate will be a part of the field management and leadership team of DOL, and supports both management and line staff; acting as a liaison between line operation and management.

What you will do:
The LSR4 duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Supervising staff to include interviews, reference checks, staff selection, coaching and mentoring, evaluating the need for and conducting training, addressing performance issues and taking corrective action.

Issuing driver licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards to those who meet the requirements specified by law, regulation, policy and procedure,

Maintaining records of all license work, fees collected and monies deposited,

Resolving complaints and solving problems,

Preparing reports on licensing activities and employee attendance,

Conducting driving skills tests and knowledge examinations to evaluate that current licensing standards are met,

Being accountable for public funds, and accurately collect DOL licensing fees,

Using sound judgment and make independent decisions to access customer.

Working Conditions:
Statewide, local area travel, using state or personal vehicle, with overnight stays.

Work in an office setting, work outdoors and ride in vehicles

Work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule

Working hours beyond 40 hours/week Upon completing training and certification, you will be eligible to become certified to issue Enhanced Drivers License (EDL), which will result in a 10% pay increase.

What we are looking for:
One year experience as a Licensing Services Representative 2.

OR

Three (3) years of experience evaluating documents and applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies or laws; one (1) year of Microsoft Word experience, and financial transaction/cash handling experience; two (2) years of customer service experience; AND six (6) months experience assigning, guiding, coaching and training teammates while performing similar work.

AND

Five years of licensed driving experience.

A valid Washington State Driver License with no restrictions other than corrective lenses (or the ability to obtain one upon hire).

Acceptable or clear fingerprint-based criminal history background check

Verified reliability check for previous five years of employment

U.S. Citizenship verification

Our ideal candidate will have:
Ability to accept personal accountability for the work assigned to meet the goals of Agency.

One (1) year experience in evaluating complex information to ensure accuracy and verifying complex rules, laws and policies,

One (1) year experience in explaining complex rules, laws and policies or procedures.
