EDI Systems Analyst (Contract)

Brief Description

This position is responsible for providing design, development and support work for EDI – Commercial & Operations line of business in APL.

The Systems Specialist will execute company’s EDI strategy and work-plans. This requires planning and executing multiple medium-sized project enhancements of medium complexity. In particular, this requires collaboration with Customers, Liner business users, terminal/depot operations, trading portals, e-commerce representatives, and IT team members to develop and enhance EDI solutions in support of customer on-boarding and business operational processes.

EDI enhancements of medium complexity are delivered on schedule and meet business requirements

Key project stakeholders are engaged, involved and satisfied with the EDI solutions delivered

Work and coordinate well with other teams within Group IT, and aligned to meet the overall objectives of APL.

Accountabilities:
Work with business users, EDI team and other application groups to identify enhancement requirements, estimate development effort and prepare plan for User Acceptance Testing.

Design and develop EDI solutions producing appropriate documentation and with high degree of re-usability

Develop and enhance mainframe (COBOL, VSAM & JCL) programs with IDMS database, GENTRAN & WTX for EDI mapping.

Performs systems and data analysis, including analyzing existing system/program logic difficulties, and revising the logic procedures involved as necessary

Review test plan and test results to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested at all stages of development, and assist in preparation for production deployment

Manage service provider quality and performance to ensure that services are delivered according to the specified service levels and requirements

Coordinate with AMS team for enhancements, maintenance and support incident tasks.

Optimize the system resources and applications, and evaluate alternative solutions when required

Handles user and audit queries, and respond according to SLAs.

Participate in 24×7 support environment within the global organization.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualification

Bachelor degree inComputer Science Information Systems, or related discipline or equivalent work experience, is required.

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

Minimum 3-5 years of IT experience, of which at least 2 years in providing support and assistance to customers relating to onboarding EDI projects in Shipping industry

Participated in the development work of IT projects of medium complexity with business users, and working together with IT Liner team collectively to deliver results

Knowledge/Skills

Excellent EDI working knowledge with analysis & project management skills

Effective written and oral communication skills

Perform EDI (ANSI-X12/EDIFACT/XML) logical map development related to Shipping business

Having WTX & SAP-TM knowledge would be advantages

Proficient in use of mainframe (COBOL, VSAM & JCL) programs with IDMS database, GENTRAN & WTX for EDI mapping technologies.

Develop EDI components and coordinate to test the changes with business analyst, AMS vendors, business users and customers

Troubleshoot systems failure and provide user support

Strong written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills.
