The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Enterprise Technology Division (ETD) is recruiting to fill an temporary Information Technology (IT) Data Processor 2, located in Olympia, WA.

Enterprise Technology Division (ETD) is DSHS’s primary service provider for agency-wide information technology services. The Division is responsible for network infrastructure and support, electronic messaging, telephone and voice services, production control, data security and disaster recovery, Internet/Intranet services, enterprise architecture, formulating agency IT policy, IT portfolio maintenance, facilitating application governance and the setting of agency IT standards, and coordinating oversight reporting to the Information Services Board. Oversight also includes enterprise application development services for Executive Administrations to ISSD’s responsibilities, as well as support of the Imaging system and the Social Service Payment System.

Our Data Processor position is within the Imaging Unit of the Enterprise Technology Division. Reporting to the Imaging supervisor, you will perform document imaging and Data processing functions supporting the mission of DSHS and the Shared Service Enterprise Management Document Imaging System.

Some of What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Prepare & batch documents by using MODIS Document Imaging Systems.
  • Index the documents based on pre-defined keys for each unique line of business.
  • Ensure output documents have been forwarded to the proper customer folder.
  • Review and analyze scanned documents for accuracy.
  • Review and monitor the quality of scanned batches.
  • Compare hard-copy document batches to electronic output.
  • Modify and electronically reroute documents to the appropriate business folders with the MODIS application.
  • Monitor and control workflow and order required barcodes when needed; monitor schedules to meet user commitment.
  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and maintain software configuration settings.
  • Operate document imaging scanners.
  • Maintain inventory control logs for all received documents for batch processing.
  • Transport boxed of documents weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Follow retention schedule for document disposal and coordinate destruction.

Who Should Apply?

Graduation from High School or GED equivalent
AND
Two (2) years data processing work experience, involving:

  • Auditing;
  • Coding;
  • Scheduling; And/or
  • Staging functions for a mainframe/minicomputer system.

Completion of a two year vocational training course in electronic data processing or college-level course work in computer science may be substituted, year for year, for two years of general data processing experience.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • One year experience operating high-speed scanners and indexing resulting documents into an enterprise imaging system.
  • Accurately index large volumes of documents (1200 per day standard) in a work setting.
  • Operate a personal computer.
  • Read, interpret and take appropriate action on written or electronic communications.
  • Demonstrated general business knowledge of the forms and documents of many DSHS programs.
