Drafter Senior for Aerospace Solutions Group (ASG) in San Antonio TX

Job Description:

This is an new Business Development opportunity in San Antonio TX in support of the Aerospace Solutions Group (ASG) which anticipates substantial additional personnel requirements across a number of labor categories and levels beginning in early calendar year 2017, contingent on receiving awards for both the BAT (Bomber Armament Tester) and the ATSSI (Automatic Test System Sustainment Initiative)

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES :

– Develops complete major layout and engineering drawings of complicated components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists, parts breakdown, printed circuit board layouts, wire lists, etc., from notes, rough sketches, or general instructions of engineers and designers

– Confers with engineering staff and prepares design modifications as required

– Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards

– Changes drawings / CAD models to meet altered engineering requirements based on sketches, specifications, manufacturing procedures or Engineering Change Notices

– Makes and verifies arithmetic computations using standard formulas

– Determines scaling, inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations and sectioning

– Reviews dimensions, materials and quantities specified in completed work of other drafters for accuracy and completeness

– Contributes design modifications to improve quality of product, processes or manufacturing operation.

– Provides work leadership and direction to less experienced drafters

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

– Experience with commercial and/or military drawing standards and specifications including ASME Y14 and DI-SESS-81003C

– Experience in electro-mechanical drawing for sheet metal fixtures and enclosures, and electronic cables, connectors and circuit boards

– Proficiency with AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, or similar design tools

– Good communication skills (written and verbal)

– Ability to work within a team environment

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

– Advanced drafting training equivalent to two years of vocational or technical school.

– Experience with advance SOLIDWORK plugins for thermal modeling and wire harness routing

– A basic understanding of electrical and electronic schematics

– Drafting of test systems, electro-mechanical designs, mechanical systems or avionics systems

– Knowledge and use of ISO 9001, AS9100 or CMMI quality process standards

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and zero to two years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
