Diversity and Equity & Social Justice Intern

King County Human Resources has a fantastic summer opportunity for a college student who has an interest in diversity, inclusion, equity & social justice and working in government. This intern will participate and assist the Department’s Workforce Equity Manager with key initiatives.

The County has a strong commitment to equity and social justice , continuous improvement, service excellence, healthy employees, and teamwork and collaboration. The selected intern will learn new skills and contribute to new and existing efforts that support these values and the County’s objectives.

The projected start date is early to mid-June . The internship is for a period of up to 3 months in the summer and a few weeks during breaks in late 2017. Your work hours will vary, but expect to spend up to 20 – 25 hours per week during the internship.

Job Duties:
IN THIS INTERNSHIP, YOU WILL:
Participate and gain insight in the planning and implementation of Diversity, Inclusion and ESJ strategies and training, including ESJ training record keeping;

Support and gain insight in the development of anti-bias, diversity and inclusion training for managers;

Perform research and assist with scheduling meetings and producing materials used in training and workshops;

Participate and gain insight into the implementation of the Workplace & Workforce Goal Area regarding Equitable Workforce Development;

Perform other duties as assigned.

This opportunity is open to College Students in the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. You will need to provide proof of enrollment for the new school year.

Be able to juggle tasks;

Be creative and enjoy solving problems;

Be fun and responsible with the ability to present themselves in a professional environment;

Have the ability use Office Productivity Software such as Microsoft Office or Google Docs.
