Director, Talent Attraction & Development

Greater Louisville Inc. – the Metro Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization where regional business leaders come together to accelerate business competitiveness, economic growth and job creation in the Greater Louisville region. The region’s largest business leadership organization, GLI leads economic and global outreach strategies focused on business attraction; nurtures the entrepreneurial eco-system and fast growth companies; and champions the development of the community’s talent base. As the voice of the business community, GLI advocates for a pro-business environment and facilitates business leadership engagement on issues that impact regional competitiveness.

GLI is developing a comprehensive strategy to expand and retain the region’s existing talent pool. The Greater Louisville region must remake and strategically market an authentic, distinct and positive ‘brand’ for the region. Programs must accelerate skilled worker recruitment and retention through robust data analytics, crowd-sourced

social media, business toolboxes, community marketing, and civic leadership. GLI’s team of talent attraction professionals bring knowledge and experience marketing Louisville inside and out of the region. We drive our audience to information, online sites and media to be well-informed in making a relocation decision to Louisville.

PURPOSE:

The Director of Talent Attraction & Development is responsible for developing and implementing our talent attraction strategy and initiatives aimed at getting people to move to (or back to) the Louisville region. This includes utilizing sophisticated market research data in conjunction with managing a nation-wide marketing campaign that drives targeted messaging to our segmented demographic. This is a multi-media campaign that must yield an increase in the net number of adults in the region with an associate degree or higher, ages 25-54, by 4000, a 1.7% increase by EY2017; and an increase in the net number of adults in the region with an associate degree or higher, ages 25-54, by 38,000, a 7.5% increase by EY2020. This role works with our Talent Attraction, Talent Development and Marketing teams, supporting teams, and vendors to launch campaigns on time and on budget.

Under minimal supervision the Director is responsible for developing and implementing talent attraction strategy and initiatives aimed at getting people to relocate or return to the Louisville region. This role works with the Talent Attraction, Talent Development and Marketing teams, supporting teams and vendors to launch campaigns on time and on budget.

  • Develop, direct and execute programs focused on talent attraction and development initiatives.
  • Engage local organization, corporations, and influencers through a mix of intentional brand promotion, social media, traditional marketing methods and our talent attraction toolkit.
  • Oversee and champion strategies for talent by leading by guiding the Talent Strategy Steering Committee and related committees.
  • Lead selected marketing agencies and vendors to develop and execute a print, digital and other media marketing strategy.
  • Coordinate relocation assistance services for companies locating to greater Louisville including welcome-events, introductions and other resources.
  • Develop relationships that coordinate strategic partners and develop structures to work as the convener of private business to engage in talent initiatives.
  • Work with vendor(s) to develop and execute a print, digital and other media marketing strategy recruiting talent to (or back to) greater Louisville region and retain talent here.
  • Coordinate relocation assistance services for companies locating to greater Louisville including welcome-events, introductions and other resources.
  • In partnership with departmental leadership, serve as a liaison between GLI and other workforce/education partners including but not limited to JCPS, KentuckianaWorks, Metro Government.
  • Serve as a committee representative and in-house expert on talent and workforce issues across the region.
  • In partnership with departmental leadership, manage, develop and oversee personnel, financial strategies as they relate to talent attraction/retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Have a general knowledge, experience and track record working to execute projects. Experience in the development and execution of marketing strategies, public speaking, media relations would be beneficial.

    Bachelor’s Degree plus four (4) years of experience in marketing, project management and communications.

    Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Demonstrate proficient skills in public speaking. Must be able to organize and coordinate multiple projects. Must be detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of professionals.

    Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    The incumbent must have computer skills. Experience with the following types of software and/or Windows based applications is preferred: Microsoft Office, databases, Internet, e-mail and Magnet Mail and social media.
