Mission:

The Director of Supply Chain Optimization position will apply problem solving skills, quantitative tools and change management processes to ensure the optimal operation of the company’s manufacturing and distribution supply chain. This includes the optimal placement of inventory within the supply chain while minimizing operating costs (including manufacturing, transportation, and distribution costs). This often involves the application of mathematical modeling techniques using computer software. The Director of Supply Chain Optimization will also provide leadership to Strategic Procurement Cross Functional Teams in the execution and support of product and service transitions. The position will assess the extent of change required and lead cross functional groups and stakeholders to a successful product or service transition resulting from strategic procurement initiatives. The position generates awareness, understanding and positive perceptions of the Strategic Sourcing Initiatives and will address necessary actions to improve state of readiness for change. The position will engage and gain commitment from all sponsors, users & stakeholders to lead the change process, and will develop a change management plan.


Outcomes:

  • Identify & establish the low cost distribution network to delivery highest customer service levels.
  • Determine the implement appropriate supply chain infrastructure to support required market channels reflecting total lowest cost (transport, distribution, working capital) within customer lead times and service expectations.
  • Develop a toolkit of supply chain analytics, modeling and decision support tools, including:
    • Data visualization and mapping tools
    • Product mix profitability and inventory optimization
    • Network design & facility location optimization
  • Risk identification & mitigation to support a robust supply chain.
  • Define clear & scalable global supply chain strategy.
  • Lead teams to develop a pipeline of optimization opportunities and implement those improvements using advanced analytical, mathematical and quantitative capabilities.

  • Responsible for identifying and developing strategic initiatives to form the next generation Global Supply Chain
  • Lead teams with advanced analytical, mathematical, and quantitative capabilities.

  • Utilize engineering and operations skills to support the strategic procurement initiative cross functional team’s selection and purchase of goods and services.
  • Allocate and coordinate transition services team resources to effectively meet SPI goals.
  • Ensures all locations procure the goods and services from approved vendors.

Other Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing and/or Procurement.
  • Bachelor of Science, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Research or MBA preferred
  • CPIM, CSCP certification preferred
  • Expected routine travel 25%-50% or as business needs arise
  • Detailed analytical skills are essential to the position. Proficiency in optimization modeling software and experience with statistical learning concepts preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to collaborate and communicate well with all levels of management, employees and external contacts; ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with corporate personnel, customers, contractors, operations managers
  • Works well under pressure, handle numerous projects at once, and meets crucial internal and external deadlines while implementing creative solutions
  • Has a self-directed and flexible work ethic
