About the Role

The Special Projects team at Cloudflare works on a wide range of tactical and strategic projects that are critical to the long term development of Cloudflare. From Cloudflare’s entry into China through a strategic partnership with one of China’s largest Internet companies; to conducting strategic acquisitions; managing our strategic partnerships and relationships with the major cloud providers; and finding commercial opportunities for Cloudflare’s new products and technologies, we are involved at all levels of driving the company’s business strategy and development. The Special Projects team works with the executive level and across all teams in the company.

We are looking for a Director, Special Projects to manage the company’s corporate development activities. This will include sourcing, negotiating and executing M&A and joint ventures. The first critical function of this role will be driving the formation and execution of new, significant, joint ventures related to our China business. With 25% of the world’s internet population, China is critical to Cloudflare’s mission and business; our presence in China is a crucial competitive differentiator for the company. The person in this role will manage the creation of business plans, financial models and presentations for potential M&A and JV opportunities, as well as due diligence processes. He or she will also participate in the negotiation of these transactions. This role requires a highly collaborative person who is able to work across teams, and influence by example. He or she should also have management experience and be able to lead. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is intellectually curious and open to travel.

Requirements

  • Fluent English and Mandarin speaker
  • 10+ years of experience, in Investment Banking, Private Equity/VC, Corporate investing, or similar roles
  • Experience managing and negotiating M&A and joint venture deal processes, including financial modeling, presentations, business and integration planning
  • Experience managing teams and working with and driving cross functional projects
  • Experience in the technology sector
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior management
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative field is a plus
  • Role will be based in San Francisco
