Director, Project Management

As the Director, Project Management you will build and lead the Poppin Project Management team through an exciting, hyper-growth phase. You will create and execute plans to build a team capable of handling nationwide corporate furniture installations from proposal to punch-list. You will implement the tools, processes, and technologies required to deliver an outstanding, best in class customer experience. Additionally, you will manage a growing team of project managers (5) and project coordinators (2), currently based in NY, SF, and LA, with additional growth planned in a number of new markets.

We are looking for a highly experienced project management leader who thrives in fast-paced, multi-faceted environments. Your success will be largely driven by your ability to organize and manage your team to implement 100+ concurrent projects while providing detailed communications both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a solid project management foundation (team and process) capable of scaling with our rapid growth.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement project management software solution(s)
  • Create processes and communications strategies (internal and external) for every aspect of the project lifecycle from proposal through punch-list
  • Create a hiring plan, career paths, and compensation plans for building and managing a geographically dispersed team of project managers
  • Train and develop the project management team on new systems and processes, and measure performance at each step in the project life-cycle
  • Support the sales team to help them win more deals by listening to client, proactively identifying potential complications/issues, and creating presentation materials (including RFPs) that make Poppin the clear winner in every deal
  • Remove salespeople from the post-sales process as much as possible so they can focus on winning more business while the project manager focuses on client success
  • Proactively (and overly) communicate with salespeople so they can determine when it’s necessary for them to get involved and communicate with the client
  • Ensure understanding of local markets, local and state building codes, etc.
  • Develop rapport with local installers and other vendors

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a project management role, furniture experience a plus
  • Demonstrated track record of success managing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills and oral/written communication abilities
  • Prior management experience leading a team in a dynamic, hyper-growth (50%+) environment
  • Experience designing/implementing project management processes leveraging software solutions
  • Ability to build and manage projects across multiple geographic locations
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed

ABOUT POPPIN

At Poppin, we believe that everyone, everywhere deserves to “work happy.”

We provide companies the foundation for creating inspirational workspaces through a unique offering of furniture, office supplies, and branded merchandise. We’ve put a modern spin on a 100 year-old industry that has been slow to adapt to today’s modern consumer. By removing the middlemen, providing transparent pricing and discounts, and making our products available “on demand,” Poppin is able to offer a service unlike any other in the marketplace.

The incredible demand for our products led to 73% sales growth last year and landed Poppin on both the Inc 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the US (ranked #1008) and the Crains Fast 50 list of the fastest growing companies in NY (ranked #42).

ABOUT OUR TEAM

At Poppin, we pride ourselves on our amazing relationships with coworkers and customers alike. We believe that self-expression shouldn’t end at the office, so everyone is encouraged to be themselves and create fun every day. Successful Poppin team members step up to the plate and work to get smarter every single day. Our startup ethos requires an all-hands-on-deck attitude (or, as we call it, “work scrappy”), taking on any and all challenges with excitement and a great attitude.

Our leadership team doesn’t just talk about a work happy culture; they live and breathe it. Colorful, open work spaces, flexible PTO, a well-stocked kitchen, dogs in the office, generous maternity leave policy, and happy hours are just a few of the ways we proudly bring work happiness to life.
