Job Description Summary:

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic business leader with a HRIS background to take the role of Director, People Technology Functional Design. This is a critical role within the People Technology team which will partner with our key stakeholders to ensure that we deliver quality technical solutions that are scalable, efficient and consider the entire PayPal technology landscape. This person will partner with our People team to help define and execute on a vision for world-class People Technology solutions ensuring best practice processes, stakeholder engagement and user delight. They will align, prioritize, and manage the portfolio of technology work and resources, in partnership with People Planning and Delivery and IT, to enable successful execution of People Strategic Priorities and Roadmap. This position is for someone with a proactive, entrepreneurial spirit, who enjoys a dynamic, fast-paced and growing work environment, and enjoys working with people to provide world-class business solutions.

Job Description:

  • Build, lead, develop, and motivate a high performing, multi-cultural team of Functional Design Analysts, reinforcing the organization’s core values and expectations through exemplary behavior, communication, and coaching practices.
  • Communicate organizational objectives; inspire and motivate team to achieve results.
  • Coach and mentor team responsible for developing and enhancing strong partnerships/collaboration with business process owners and stakeholders (HR, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Finance, Legal, IT etc.) to gather information and translate that into a business process/system functionality that both aligns with the needs of the business and keeps the end user experience in mind.
  • Define and document end-to-end HR business processes and system improvements based on analysis to increase the workforce and stakeholder satisfaction with our HR technology solutions.
  • Sustain an environment that helps employees realize their highest potential.
  • Lead team to continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Communicate with executive staff, business and other functional partners.
  • Work with People Planning & Delivery and IT partners to prioritize capabilities and product backlog in accordance with the vision, strategy, business values, dependencies and technical risk.
  • Provide thought leadership regarding HR technology solutions and strategies for new programs, projects and enhancements to existing solutions.
  • Work with global partners to set a strategy and a vision consistent with PayPal corporate priorities for our People Technology solutions, including Workday, Silkroad, Salesforce, and others, while identifying opportunities to improve HR processes thru technology.
  • Be the main point of contact with our business partners. Manage internal customer relationships with our business partners and champion the employee and business stakeholder experience.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation with all stakeholders including sponsors, technologists and business customers.
  • Vendor contract negotiations and vendor relationship management.
  • Establish practices and governance for budget adherence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels including senior management.
  • Ability to work in Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.
  • Ability to engage, envision, and collaborate to build solutions that encompass the end to end processes that drive HR services.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems logically and systematically.
  • Highly flexible, ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in order to execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels including senior leadership.

Experience:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to transform business requirements into system improvements that ultimately advance the initiatives of the People team at PayPal. The attributes of the successful candidate are:

  • 10+ years of relevant and exempt level business experience in HRIS, with a minimum of 7 years leading functions for large complex business groups.
  • BS degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Management Information Systems or Computer Science.
  • Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management.
  • Ability to deal with complex difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Understands the climate, culture, and relationships within an organization, how things happen and are accomplished, what works, and what doesn’t work.
  • Responsive, fast-paced decision-making skills with the ability to drive business results.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR systems (Workday) in addition to MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS solution implementation and management.
  • Experience supporting multiple HR lines of business such as Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Operations, Inclusion and Diversity, required.
