Director of Talent Recruitment – Network Support Team

The Director of Talent Recruitment (DTR) is a key leader of our organizational priority to recruit and hire a diverse team of the most talented and passionate teachers and leaders in the country. The DTR will execute and continuously improve upon Hiawatha’s regional and national recruitment strategy for building a pipeline of exceptional talent for Hiawatha Academies. This role reports to the Chief Talent Officer, is a member of the People team, works collaboratively with the Executive Director and a fellow Director of Talent Recruitment, Principals, and other hiring managers as needed.

Responsibilities

Sources, recruits, and hires exceptional teachers and leaders to fill all open roles each year, with a focus on increasing the diversity of the Hiawatha team to better reflect our student communities:

Build talent pools for current and future open roles

Develop new and creative strategies for building talent pools

Manage a portfolio of approximately 50 roles across the year

Maintain prospect and application tracking systems

Cultivate relationships with near- and long-term prospects

Create and utilize hiring products and systems (e.g. role descriptions, interview processes, work exercises)

Manage hiring processes across the network, working with hiring managers on specific roles and conducting regular meetings with Principals and other hiring managers to understand the current and future hiring needs of schools

Oversee and ensure strong management of all stages of the candidate hiring process, from application review through hiring decision

Bring ideas to the team to strengthen our talent strategy and hiring process with an eye towards continuous improvement

Promote a talent cultivation mindset across the organization:
Manage Hiawatha’s Employee Referral Bonus program to build staff engagement and create a pipeline of outstanding applicants

Epitomize a level of enthusiasm about working at Hiawatha Academies as a model for all staff and to promote the organization’s employment brand to external audiences

Seek, analyze, and act upon feedback from candidates and hiring managers

Provide ongoing feedback to partner hiring managers

Attend two-three regional or national hiring fairs across the year

Support internal candidates through the interview process

Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Chief Talent Officer.

Hiawatha Employment Logistics

This role is a member of the Network Support Team

The expected work week for all Hiawatha Academies staff members is 40 hours. The DTR will set their individual schedule with the CTO.

Regular weekly presence at hiring partner Hiawatha campuses (two-three locations) will be required; must provide own transportation.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor’s degree

Commitment to the mission and equity vision of Hiawatha Academies

Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop systems and processes that achieve efficiency and scalability

Three plus years of talent management, or relevant experience

Ability to learn quickly and to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment

Demonstrated success developing and managing effective organization-wide processes; proven ability to invest and train others in new practices

Demonstrated expertise in talent sourcing

Knowledge of/familiarity with diversity and inclusion practices

Willingness to travel (two-three times per year)

Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant field

Track record of hiring exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds to meet organizational goals

Teaching experience with demonstrate results

Experience leading recruitment efforts for a growing organization

Compensation
