Director of Sales and Marketing

The Director of Sales participates in the development of the sales and marketing strategies and implements tactics for achieving top line revenue growth for a successful and profitable operation.

Sales Management * Responsible for hiring, training, leading, motivating, and the performance management of the Sales, Catering and Reservations staff. Coaches and supports the team in order to promote team member development and loyalty. Seeks out new and creative ways to maximize the team’s efficiency. * Works closely with the General Manager to determine appropriate sales strategies in all market segments towards maximizing the revenue centers. Also responsible for maximizing occupancy of conferences and banquets to optimize general business opportunities * Collaborates with Aqua Hospitality Sales, Marketing and Revenue team to maximize revenue opportunities in all revenue channels – Direct, Web, GDS, Wholesale and Groups. Also coordinates FAM trips, site inspections and media visits * Maintains business relations with established key accounts, local corporate clients and other community organizations * Observes the market, identify trends and monitors the competitive set, and based on the intelligence collected creates sales strategies and tactics * Responsible for managing the hotel’s stand-alone Sales and Marketing budget * Participates in the development of business strategies for Room Revenue and Food and Beverage in order to achieve targeted revenues for the hotel. Develops sales strategy and action plans according to specified top line revenue goals. * Reviews team goals on a monthly basis; recommends and takes appropriate actions to achieve objectives in key result areas, geared to maximize profit while satisfying client needs. * Collaborates with Aqua Hospitality Sales, Marketing and Revenue team to maximize revenue opportunities in all revenue channels – Direct, Web, GDS, Wholesale and Groups. Also coordinates FAM trips, site inspections and media visits. * Solicits existing accounts for repeat bookings and referrals while developing new client base. Keeps accurate records of potential customers and follows through on all potential business. * Maintains active membership in community and industry related organizations and associations. Responsible in developing and maintaining knowledge of market trends, competition and customers. * Quotes and negotiates prices within established parameters. Upon closing, coordinates and follows up with convention services, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel’s contracted services.

  • Serves as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee and Aqua’s Revenue Team. Supports goals, objectives and philosophies of Aqua Hospitality and the Kauai Beach Resort. Attends Sales Meetings, office events, hotel-sponsored functions, industry, and community related functions. * Interpersonal knowledge of Delphi helpful to manage groups and catering accounts * Handles special projects as assigned in a timely manner. * Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned. Support * Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors. * Ability to assist with the design and preparation of statistical reports and presentations as needed. * Ability to accurately report information. * Ability to assist with various accounting and office tasks as needed. * Ability to scrupulously follow all Kai Management Services LLC, and hotel policies and procedures. * Attend required meetings. * May have miscellaneous duties assigned.Other: * Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Aqua Hotels & Resorts from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees maybe required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs of the hotel. * Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Aqua Hotels & Resorts rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Qualifications : * Minimum of three years as Hotel Director of Sales or Associate Director of Sales experience required * Bachelor Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred * Must be results-oriented with ability to be flexible * Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential * Computer literacy (Delphi, Word, Excel) * Ability to understand and interpret financial data * Positive attitude and supportive team based approach toward the attainment of the hotel’s short and long term goals. * Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days * Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions. * Must have a comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations. * Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates. * Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. * Must be able to motivate associates in a positive manner. * Detail-oriented, ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Strong supervisory, managerial, development & coaching skills. * Excellent leadership skills demonstrating adaptability, flexibility & team orientation. * Strong ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations & making decisions. * Ability to deal with internal & external customers of diverse social backgrounds with patience, tact & diplomacy to defuse anger and resolve conflict.
