Director of Finance and Administration

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Director will work as a vital part of the management team and manage the financial, accounting, operations and human resources duties for Impact Broward. Duties and Responsibilities

FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

  • Prepares and presents monthly financial statements to the President & CEO and the Board’s Finance Committee. Provides monthly budget re-projections. Provides monthly data including income, expenses and outcome data.
  • Prepares annual agency budget and revises as needed.
  • Responsible for bookkeeping, including accounts receivable/payable and programs reimbursements.
  • Supervises, reviews and approves the agency payroll.
  • Maintains the agency’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all agency transactions and assets.
  • Monitors and records all program expenditures and receipts in accordance to state and federal accounting guidelines as well as funder contracts.
  • Prepares annual cash flow, updates and revises on a monthly basis and presents to the Board’s Finance Committee.
  • Assists staff in writing the budget component of grants and proposals.
  • Reviews and reconciles all bank accounts.
  • Coordinates in a timely manner, all annual audit documentation and works with outside auditing firm.
  • Supports fundraising events by controlling collection of revenues, including cash, payments to vendors and accounting for event, as well as depositing funds.
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of adequate records and related internal control structure, the selection and application of accounting principles and the safeguarding of assets.

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Manages all Human Resources procedures, practices and policies.
  • Ensures all employee personnel files contain needed paperwork and that such information is updated on an as needed basis.
  • Monitors that all vacation, sick and personal days etc., for all employees is tracked.
  • Maintains and administers the employee benefits including, 403(b) plans and group health and life insurance policies.

OPERATIONS

  • Manages all third-party vendor agreements, such as the contracts for rent, internet, and techonology.
  • Oversee all office functioning including ensuring equipment, technology, and supplies are maintained appropriately and efficiently.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Ability to use technology for billing, budgeting, and grant administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and functions of the office, the agency, and funding sources especially Corporation for National and Community Service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and organize the job, set and meet goals.
  • Ability to deal with people in a tactful and effective manner and to use judgment and discretion in disseminating information.
  • Ability to establish priorities, cope with changing priorities and coordinate them with agency requirements.
  • Ability to perform assignments on the basis of general directions or outlines without specific instructions as to details and to perform continuing assignments independently.

Desirable Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of five years experience in financial administration and three years of management. Nonprofit experience a plus. Candidate must possess strong leadership skills, as well as, strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience: Five years experience in finance, accounting, and human resources.

Salary: $50,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
