Director of Finance & Accounting

As Director of Finance, you will direct all corporate accounting processes, including financial operations, reporting, and cash management. In addition, you will managing banking and investor relations and report directly to the CEO. Additional responsibilities include managementr all accounting and finance related activities including cash flow, accruals, monthly close, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reporting on trends to management, preparing and reviewing budget to actual performance, forecasting and more.

The person we hire will need to exhibit the qualities below:

Hands-on Leadership

  • Work with our sales and engineering leaders to ensure top line and bottom line performance and expectations are aligned
  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability
  • Anticipate capital needs and initiate the appropriate means to obtain
  • Report current and future financial strategies, pitfalls and opportunities including P&L for each department to the CEO and leadership team
  • Manage and develop a small team of accounting/finance personnel that run A/P and A/R
  • Serve as the key technical expert for accounting matters and helping to inform decisions that will increase Notora’s value
  • Manage accounting policies, procedures, metrics and controls to improve efficiency, verify the integrity of all systems and ensure data accuracy
  • Develop processes and procedures needed to insure accuracy of accounting records and proper checks and balances

Accounting

  • Review and approve A/P vendor payments, ACH Transaction, Loan Payments, and Expense Reimbursements logged by Staff Accountant
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecast schedule, and managing bank balances
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards
  • Maintain fixed asset records by reporting new purchases to our tax accountants, and preparing month-end journal entries to tie to schedules they provide
  • Conduct month-end close by entering journal entries for accrued revenue and expenses, prepaid items, deferred revenue, cost of sales, etc…
  • Reconcile A/P and A/R on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze costs in all General Ledger accounts and explaining variances to upper management
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages which include the balance sheet, income statement, EBITDA Income Statement, Income Statements by Department, Actual v Budget Reports, and break-even analysis
  • Invoice Credit Card customers using our Paypal invoicing system
  • Post payments received and making bank deposits using remote deposit equipment
  • Monitor overdue invoices and making collections via phone and email as necessary.
  • Prepare annual budgets both by department and company wide
  • Complete special accounting projects as assigned.
  • Prepare internal and external audit schedules for audits, as needed.

Compliance and Processes

  • Prepare tax information required for Corporate tax returns, 1099 reporting, and property taxes
  • Establish, maintain and document the appropriate fiduciary controls and policies

Operations

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll and handling all related issues (TriNet)
  • Oversee benefit plan administration

Requirements, Experience, & Education (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an Accredited University required, and minimum five (5) to seven (7) years related experience.
  • Ability to work in a young, tech savvy workplace.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SAGE software is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; with medium to high level of EXCEL knowledge
  • Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable experience required.
  • Expertise with P&L’s and standard financial statements.
  • Flexibility in schedule during month end/ quarter end/ year end processing and close
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, change focused, high-growth atmosphere, managing $10M-$20M in revenue
  • Deadline oriented, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong work ethic, sound judgment and professional manner is required
  • High integrity, complete confidentiality, and impeccable ethical standards is a must
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and high level of accuracy is essential
  • Collaborative and analytical profile with demonstrated critical and economic decision-making skills
