Director of Community Relations

Strategic Communication 60%

  • Ensure that BBB advertising, marketing, web presence and media relations materials take a strategic approach towards promoting the brand and mission of the BBB, meeting all determined deadlines.
  • Continuously review and improve BBB website materials and images to encourage and/or engage consumer and business interaction with BBB.
  • Create advertising budget, negotiate contracts with and monitor advertising vendors.
  • Create advertisements when necessary for use in online and print publications and manage the creation process when vendors are creating advertisements.
  • Monitor Google Ad grant, make changes as needed and re-apply when necessary.
  • Strengthen the strategic communications process specifically partnering with other members of BBB management on plans that identify new opportunities to engage consumers, businesses and potential partners and sponsors.
  • Develop BBB mission driven and business focused video content .
  • Work directly with VP of Operations and/or management to confirm validity of any public content before release of such materials. All external content must be signed off by the BBB President and CEO before release.

Media Relations (15-20%):

  • Develop and maintain a of network of media contacts to proactively promote BBB programs, products and services with the specific intent of furthering awareness of the value and mission of the BBB.
  • Develop and direct the timely and accurate production and distribution of media relations materials, such as press releases, fact sheets and interview talking points.
  • Ensure the development and consistency of the BBB message.
  • Act as one of BBB spokespersons.
  • Work to prepare appropriate BBB representatives to serve as spokespersons of the BBB.
  • Utilize media databases and other online tools to manage external communications (Constant Contact, Cision, Survey Monkey, etc.)
  • Work closely with CBBB communication’s contact as well as other BBB PR representatives to ensure that messages and new initiatives are on brand.
  • Create newsletters for first year ABs, all Accredited Businesses, the community and for seniors.
  • Grow social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr to increase reach of BBB messages
  • Determine need for presence on other social media outlets as needed.
  • Post BBB and area news, tips and other content in social daily and interact with commenters.
  • Seek out Accredited Businesses in social media, connect with them and assist in promoting their news.

Community Relations (15-20%):

  • Initiate, develop and coordinate the BBB’s participation in community and business events that promote its visibility and function including, but not limited to, speaking engagements, networking opportunities and other event development as deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure that the BBB is developing relationships and maintaining contacts with community groups, business and trade organizations and government leaders to promote the BBB’s value within the community.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of events representing BBB – E.MI events as well as those community, business and trade organizations that we partner with.
  • Represent BBB, from time to time, at community and/or business speaking engagement and events.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year
