JOB SUMMARY

To lead and maintain an organized and effective annual Budgeting process as well as a Long Range Financial Plan in support of the Children’s mission and values. To proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children’s.

EDUCATION

  • College graduate with a BBA with a major or minor in Accounting; or BBA with any business major

  • Seven years relevant work experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Leads the annual operating and capital budget development and implementation process. Includes coordinating all responsible parties, provide training to Children’s management staff, prepare budget package, analysis and challenge budget submission, provide analytical and supporting reports and ensure the overall integrity of the process and output.
  • Lead development of financial targets utilized in the budget process. Monitors progress towards achievement of those targets and communicates status (and problem areas) throughout the budget process, as well as during the fiscal year.
  • Monitors compliance with the budget during the fiscal year. Assists the accounting department, financial operations, and operating departments in investigating and understanding variances, and recommends possible corrective action.
  • Administer rolling forecast or projections in conjunction with annual budgets.
  • Responsible for assuring that data maintained in the budget system is consistent with that in other financial systems.
  • Implement and administer monthly financial management reporting that will allow access to information on an ongoing basis to others in Finance and Non-Financial departments.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Financial Operations, VP of Performance Analytics, Senior Vice President of Finance/CFO, and other Children’s personnel as needed.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the cost accounting manager to ensure proper system configuration and setup, implementation of processes and procedures to maintain data integrity, development of reports and presentations for senior leadership and board committees regarding annual cost and margin analytics.
  • Engage with Service Line Leaders and Strategy in delivering cost analytics to support the development of strategic plans and/or business plans to support new/expanded services, affiliations, and annual market assessments.
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced costing methodologies to support activity based costing and/or care delivery initiatives focused on controlling cost while improving quality of care.
  • SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

    Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

    Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
