DevOps System Administrator – Puppet / Docker

SOFT’s client located in New York, NY is looking for a DevOps System Administrator – Puppet / Docker for a long term contract assignment
Qualifications
  • Must Have Strong Puppet and Docker Development experience in relation to application installation and configuration.
  • Experience with design/implementation of cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS cloud services
  • Experience with Windows server operating systems
  • Knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems
  • Familiarity with application middleware components (database, web application servers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking components (switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.)
Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent communications and technical writing skills
  • Ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences
  • Skill in design of technical solutions to business problems
  • Proven leader and self-starter with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects, tasks and deliverables throughout project lifecycle • Ability to develop detailed project plans, milestones and schedules
  • Experience with Unix operating systems (Linux, Solaris, AIX, others)
Top 5-10 technical skills required for the job:
  • Puppet Scripting – experience in scripting and building required automation using standard technologies such as puppet.
  • Docker – Build and Design automated code deployment using docker
  • Puppet Automation – Develop automation code to deploy and maintain systems and applications using application orchestration software.
  • DevOps – familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tooling
  • Cloud Technologies – Experience with AWS cloud services and strong understanding of infrastructure components and how they are architected in AWS.
  • Server systems design – Familiarity with server components and operating systems in data center and hosted configurations.
    • Knowledge of storage, network, and virtualization; and the ability to integrate these in an application design.
  • Networking technology – Knowledge of the components and functioning of a modern network integrating data, voice and video.
    • Understanding of how network design affects the application.
  • Virtualization – Facility with the techniques used to virtualize servers, applications, and desktops.
    • Knowledge of the data center requirements to implement each technology.
  • Storage – Understanding of data center storage technologies including SAN and Cloud Storage, and how to incorporate into system designs.
