DevOps Intern (Software)

The primary responsibilities of the DevOps Intern are to utilize innovative and creative approaches that combine automation and process engineering ultimately enabling software development to deliver code faster and more reliably. The DevOps Intern will gain unique knowledge and understanding of software delivery that is not typically attained by other software internships. This position requires that the student be scholastically focused in a software related field and have a passion for automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a member of a small but growing DevOps team to develop, maintain, and optimize software systems aimed at providing a fast, reliable, and automated systems development life cycle
  • Collaborate with the Build Engineer, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance, Operations, and other team members on projects
  • Participate in design and code reviews of automated systems
  • Perform and deliver in a fast paced environment with a strong dedication to software quality and delivery
  • Perform all other assigned tasks and requirements as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Development or related field

  • Stay current with rapidly changing technology and apply to business needs
  • Adhere to all established procedures, policies, and safety rules as outlined by the Company
  • This internship will go through the end of August; full-time or part-time hours are available

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability and proficiency in a scripting language required, preferably MS Powershell
  • Knowledge of Git source control and experience with pull requests preferred (Bitbucket or Github is ideal)
  • Continuous Integration Software experience preferred (Teamcity, Jenkins, TravisCI, etc.)
  • REST API development experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle preferred
  • Understanding of commonly used programming languages (C#, Java, etc.), OOP, design patterns, and data structures is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work at a computer station and view a computer screen for extended periods of tim e
