DevOps Engineer/VmWare Engineer

SIS is seeking a talented and well-rounded DevOps Engineer to join our Managed Solutions Center. The MSC DevOps Engineer will be responsible for system and hardware monitoring, integration, automation, scripting, orchestration, and feature changes contributing to future architecture and functionality of the MSC Data Center. The ability to communicate effectively and lead initiatives with other engineers with minimal supervision is important.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the operational integrity of all production infrastructure
• Configuring and reacting to hardware and software alerts
• Assessing environmental security
• Infrastructure management and manipulation of geographically dispersed data center environments including various public clouds (GCE, AWS, SoftLayer, Azure, vCloud Air)
• Enhance and automate aspects of the MSC VMware Virtualized private and multi-tenant environment components including but not limited to the Hypervisor, management agents, storage and networking, provisioning, monitoring, and overall interoperability
• Windows, Linux and Unix systems administration; Linux certifications highly desired
• Create, maintain, and implement automated and scripted solutions to drive efficiencies and configuration consistency
• Operation and architecture of multi-tier distributed systems involving load balancers, caching layers and real-time event processing

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of direct, on-the-job experience with network and computer systems in a multi-tenant environment (Managed Services Preferred)
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is preferred)
• A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• A solid understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers, TCP/IP, security standards.
• Experience with scripting languages and management tools such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Puppet, Perl, Python, PHP, XML, etc.
• Familiarity with data transfer protocols such as REST, SOAP, JSON
• Good documentation instincts and clear writing and diagramming style.
• Strong knowledge of Support Desk Software with awareness of ITIL Service Desk process
• Vendor Certifications CCNA R&S and/or VCP required; CCNP, MCSE, RHCE preferred
• Security compliance experience (ITIL, PCI, ISO 27001 or SOX), preferred
• Time management and organizational skills
• Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; be adept at communicating with all levels of technical and non-technical people
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and personal development
