proactive, and empowered for any event or outbreak from bioterrorism and newly emerging disease, such as the COVID-19 virus, to the old diseases that never left.


Your Role and Impact

Make an impact and join us in this fight at the front lines. As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will work to continually improve our processes and toolsets, in both Production and Test environments, for systems that are connecting the entire healthcare community and building a path to a healthier future for people all around the world.

This position will be responsible for the maintenance of all production, test and UAT environments with minimum supervision. You will be learning all automation, continuous integration / build release pipelines, application deployments and disaster recovery. While considered an entry level position for DevOps, team members will rely on their past experience with supporting various operating systems and DBA tasks. We prioritize drive and willingness to learn over experience.

This position also involves occasional after-hours maintenance as well as participation in the on-call rotation for Production systems support. Our uptime requirements are 24/7 and our team members work as a team to ensure that our customers’ systems are always up and available. In the event of outage, you will be one of the first responders who lead and manage the situation until it is successfully resolved and operations are returned to normal.


About You

Communication is a critical skill for this role. You must be able to clearly communicate in multiple forms (email, verbal, written, Slack), eliminating ambiguity, asking for and providing help when needed. Creation and updates to documentation (written or code) are skills essential to success on the team.

We currently utilize the tools, applications and concepts listed below. We expect you to have similar experience, and a willingness to quickly become proficient and productive to close any gaps. Our tools and processes will evolve and this position is expected to learn and evolve with them. Where possible, our team collectively chooses the tools and determines the processes we use to get the job done.

Configuration Management (Packer, Vagrant, Chef, Ansible, et. al.); OS Scripting (Bash,
Python, Powershell); Node apps

Strong in Linux, Bash, Jenkins.

Basic understanding of AWS concepts like EC2, VPC, route53, RDS, S3, AMI, EBS.

Conceptual understanding of Apache webservers, DB’s like Oracle, Postgres.

Java apps troubleshooting experience helps.

Fundamental understanding of Docker concepts.

Fundamental understanding of IT security and Scrum methodologies
