Full Time

Key Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  • Develop a process and implement automation in server builds, deployments, managing server provisioning
  • Document technical requirements, develop and oversee project plans and implement change control procedures. Facilitate design sessions and participate in technical advisory roles, as required. Mentor associates and foster a learning and growth environment.
  • Participates in project planning processes.
  • Assesses needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes)
  • Works closely with architects to assure all systems are in line with long-term strategy.
  • Develops/builds IT solutions to meet business requirements
  • Installs and configures solutions, integrates solutions with other applications and platforms
  • Assists with setup and maintenance of test environments for both manual and automated testing.
  • Builds automated deployments using configuration management technology, documents and completes knowledge transfer to production support.
  • Act as liaison for internal and external communications directly with departments as required. Provide regular status reports and gather requirements from departments and provide input into the infrastructure products that are bought or built.
  • Maintain familiarity with currently implemented and new technology, including new versions of software/firmware, implementation of upgrades, and changes to procedures/commands.
  • Provide clear communication and documentation of events, processes, procedures and configuration details
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Communicates and monitors compliance with existing practices.
  • Provide direction and technical guidance to project teams and less experienced staff.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree with computer classes. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of server system experience, including strong technical knowledge and experience with the majority of the following categories:
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix/Windows Administration
  • Experience with systems and IT operations
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Virtualization experience (VMWare, ESX)
  • Strong grasp of automation tools
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with Azure is preferred)
  • Strong experience with MySQL
  • Understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Ability to script
  • VMWare ESX, vCenter and View environments
  • Evidence of a strong breath of knowledge across technology disciplines.
  • Evidence of strong communications skills, needed to collaborate, influence and persuade team members and management inside and outside of the department.
  • Evidence of ability to convert complex information into simple, explainable solutions.
  • Exhibits ability to work autonomously, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Evidence of ongoing pursuit of technical knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical skills and effective problem solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Microsoft SQL database
  • Being comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
  • Data management skills
  • Active Director, Group Policy and DNS
  • PKI and SSL certificate implementations
  • Network systems, normal routing and switching

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time position that provides Level 1 & 2 support, on a 24 x 7 schedule, for all operational and outage issues relating to the infrastructure.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation performing weekend and after-hours support.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is required, on a regular basis, to talk to hear. The colleague is required to respond to numerous phone calls and inquiries.
  • Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
